The excerpt features accurate club names along with simplified, recognizable versions of team badges and kits. Elaborate designs are streamlined, such as Juventus in silver, Porto in blue, and Celtic in green.

Player names were created by blending real-world squad names; for example, early 1990s Portuguese teams featured many Yugoslavian players, resulting in names like Valentim Ivic, which combined the chairmen of Boavista and Benfica.

Since the game lacked battery backup and couldn't change team names, it used password sheets to save tournament progress. Rotherham United is included despite never playing in the English top flight, a nod to the developer Krisalis Software's local roots, while all other featured clubs have competed in their respective countries' top divisions.
