Synopsis

Far Cry 2 takes place in a small central African state in the grip of a civil war. The government recently collapsed, leaving two factions in control: the UFLL, United Front for Liberation, led by opposition leader Addi Mbantuwe, and the APR, Alliance for Popular Resistance, led by Oliver Tambossa.

Both factions claim the interests of the people, but both have demonstrated a lack of compassion, hostility, greed and a general disregard for the well-being of the people. Both factions hired mercenaries to bolster their power during the conflict. The recent depletion of the country's diamond mines has thrown the country into disarray, leaving some mercenaries without pay and with no way out.
