Synopsis

Rescue Fido is a 1- or 2-player arcade shooter for the Apple II. Your loyal dog FIDO has been wrongly identified as the infamous “Butch Brawler” K-9 killer and captured by robotic police guards. Due to a malfunction in their Z-80 processors, the robots are set to execute FIDO at midnight using a deadly crowd-control program. Players pilot a small combat tank and battle through waves of Z-80-controlled police weaponry to reach the execution station and beam FIDO aboard the WARRIOR ship before time runs out.
Gameplay consists of timed stages filled with swarms of identical enemy craft, each using unique movement patterns. Before each round, players position their tank on the battlefield, then fight enemies using weapons that fire either horizontally or vertically depending on the level. Getting hit costs a life and restarts the timer. Players begin with five lives, and losing them all ends the game.
