Synopsis

Long ago, evil beings created powerful creatures called Espers and pitted them against each other. The ensuing battles reduced their world to a field of smoking ruins. Legend has it that the Espers wiped out themselves and most of humanity. The magic disappeared forever. Centuries have passed and a rational world has been established, where Espers only exist in myths, until one of them, frozen in ice since ancient wars, is unearthed. Suddenly, magical attacks on civilians are reported. Imperial commandos launch raids using magic-powered MagiTek weapons. Magic is clearly alive and well and the world is in danger once again. Who or what is behind the rediscovery and redeployment of this legendary power? What chaotic plans exist that will bring chaos to this ordered world?
