Synopsis

Freddy Pharkas was throughout his youth the best shooter in the west, he could beat anyone in a duel. But one day he came across an outlaw named Kenny, who tore off his ear with a revolver bullet during a duel. Freddy then decided to give up shooting and dueling, and decided to become a pharmacist. After five years he graduated and moved to Coarsegold where he opened a pharmacy. At the beginning of the story, narrated by an old man named Whittlin Willie, Freddy discovers that someone wants Coarsegold in a ghost town. In addition to practicing pharmacology, he will have to protect the city from all kinds of dangers, such as poisoned water, arson, gamblers, and even flatulence!
