Description

G-Darius has literally added a new dimension to the popular "Darius" series with the introduction of sets and enemies entirely in 3D. Namco had done the same with his Xevious series for "Xevious 3D/G" two years earlier, but G-Darius is generally considered the most accomplished of the two.
The gameplay has also been improved by allowing the player to capture almost all enemy ships and use them against them, a gameplay introduced in a more basic way by Darius Gaiden. Captured enemies can either explode and damage all nearby enemies, or be used to fire a special, more powerful "alpha ray." Each boss is able to draw his own version of this ray and, when the two rays meet, they neutralize each other. Depending on the shooting speed, one of the beams will grow and eventually dominate the others.
