Synopsis

Gauntlet II, like its predecessor, is a hack & slash set in a fantasy universe. The gameplay is very similar to the original game, allowing up to four players simultaneously. Unlike its predecessor, players can choose identical classes from the four offered, each player distinguished by their color.

The game introduces so-called "It" levels where a player who has touched an enemy attracts all the other enemies towards him. To free himself from this curse, he must touch another player or take the exit. Other new features like ricocheting shots, acid puddles, invisible walls, false exits or even walls that transform into objects or monsters when touched.

Some quests give access to a secret room containing some food and all kinds of magical potions. This opus is also the first to use the main musical theme of the series, a simplified baroque fugue.
