Gegege No Kitarou - Youkai Daiundoukai
Synopsis
Gegege No Kitaro: Youkai Daiunduokai is a game taken from the rich universe of Mizuki Shigeru, horror mangaka par excellence. The video game adaptation of the famous Gegege No Kitaro is a Wii-style party game. Less rich than Doraemon, Gegege No Kitaro: Youkai Daiundoukai offers you two different modes: First a solo mode where the goal is to complete thirty-five mini-games classified into several categories. Then, a party-game mode playable by four people, where you are only entitled to a handful of events, related to the categories for the solo mode. So we have mini-games of tennis, football, sprinting, obstacle course, throwing and "push baballe", where the goal is to push a big baballe! Obviously, all these games are anchored in the world of Yokai - Japanese monsters - and you therefore play football with a stone, meet skeletons in the obstacle course or throw a hideous frog as far as possible into a pond. Technically not very accomplished - Wii obliges -
Gegege No Kitaro: Youkai Daiuoukai stands out for its murky and offbeat atmosphere! The handling requires a lot of adaptation time and the game is absolutely not free from all criticism, far from it: The poverty of the mini-games, the absence of a two-player story mode, the relatively short lifespan and the handling leaving more than to be desired make this game a very weak title intrinsically.
