Synopsis

Ghouls is a single-screen platformer in which you control a creature and must retrieve the power gems taken by ghosts and stored in a haunted mansion. Starting at the bottom of the screen, you must jump and walk across platforms to reach your power gems at the top of the screen. Some of the gems have fallen loose, and you can collect them as you move across the screen. There are also ghosts, spiders, and various obstacles on the screen, such as spikes and moving platforms; if you touch a ghost, a spike, or fall from a certain height, you lose one of your four lives. You can collect a special gem that makes the ghosts disappear for a few seconds, and springs allow you to jump higher. A timer counts down, and you must complete each level within the time limit or you’ll lose a life.
