Synopsis

Mandala is a mystical circle in sacred Buddhist art, while Gokuraku is the Japanese term for Sukhavati, "Pure Land", the paradise of Amitabha Buddha. The game addresses Buddhist themes in a comedic way. The three heroes of the game, a man named Tamon, the young girl Amako and her parrot Gon, are in search of the mysterious God of Death, who stole a precious jewel from a Buddhist temple where Tamon worked.
Gokuraku Mandala is an adventure game in which the player hovers the mouse cursor over objects on the screen and clicks on them to interact. In general, only one order type per item is eligible. There are no puzzles and progression in the game is often achieved through repeated selection of commands. The player has great freedom to move around the game world.
