Gorf
Synopsis
Gorf, like many arcade shoot'em ups, could have limited itself to the well-made copy of Space Invaders, and that is indeed what we say from the start of the game: the extra-terrestrial machines are well aligned, move just like in Space Invaders, our ship is at the bottom of the screen, ready to attack, and with the exception of this arc of a circle which replaces the shields, everything seems identical. However, some differences appear: it is possible to move anywhere within the limits of the shield. In addition, only enemy fire is capable of damaging the thin protection.
Once the screen is cleaned, the second level begins. But this is no longer a Space Invaders; the game turns to Galaxian: a handful of saucers swirl on the screen and try to shoot you down, the task will be easier for them since your shield has disappeared! The third mission throws you at the speed of light into a space portal. Finally, the fourth (and final) mission reverses the roles by asking you to destroy an enemy building which is behind a force field.
As is often the case, the adventure is short but each successful game will take you back to the first level with a higher difficulty. With its touch of originality, Gorf is a very well constructed shoot'em up whose only fault is that it only allows one shot at a time (if a second shot is taken at the same time, the first laser will be erased)
