Synopsis

Grand Slam introduced some game mechanics into the baseball game which later proved essential in the genre. Most notable in this area is the introduction of a pitch meter, used to control the speed and accuracy of throws, similar to the familiar swing meter in golf games.
This meter was later borrowed and popularized by titles such as EA's MVP Baseball.
On the batting side, a similar approach was used. It is inspired by old arcade baseball games that allowed the player to charge the power of their swing using a control stick before releasing it to hit the ball.
