From Activision, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock for Wii is a muscular musical game specially designed to awaken the "shredder" in you...Offering an incredible playlist of more than 90 songs including hits from KISS, Slipknot, Queen, Megadeth and Black Sabbath, everyone will find a musical challenge to take on. If the songs in the playlist have all been selected to give pride of place to dizzying solos, you can play as any member of a group, from the singer with a hoarse voice to the energetic drummer, including the bassist or the star guitarist. Whatever role you choose, you'll get started instantly: if you choose to be behind the microphone, try to sing by placing your voice on the melody line that appears on the screen. If you choose drums, guitar or bass, simply press the colored buttons on the controller in rhythm and according to the marks that appear on the screen. If this seems easy to you, that's simply because it is. In principle at least... because mastering is a whole different story... but hey, the life of a rock star also has its difficulties! Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is the first game in the series to offer a Quest mode, the story of which is told by Gene Simmons, the leader of KISS. Like those old metal album covers, Quest mode will immerse you in the middle of an extravagant and disproportionate story: the Demi-God of Rock has been reduced to stone by a terrible robot without soul or heart, called "the Beast". He therefore calls on the heroes who have within them the rage for rock to free it and save music. You take on the role of Guitar Hero's greatest figures (such as Axel Steel, Lars Ümlaüt and Pandora) but in this installment, each character has special abilities that come into play when you unlock their warrior form: a physical transformation that is even more mind-blowing than usual. The powers of some allow you to rack up incredible scores while others will save the day when you are in difficulty or when your solo needs a little practice! You'll recruit other warriors to be part of your party throughout your quest that will take you through legendary locations, from the famous CBGBs of New York to the fiery magma rivers of the Beast's lair that you will have to face to save the music. If you want to take a break after exploring the epic story of Quest mode, the game also offers revisited versions of modes from previous titles. Party Play provides an expected reminder and always allows you to start or interrupt a game when you feel like it, while the Quickplay+ mode offers 13 unique challenges for each of the songs in the playlist (and for downloadable songs as well) which will earn you, if you succeed, stars, items to personalize your rockers or previously locked characters. And don't forget that the game is compatible with any combination of 4 instrument controllers which means that, in addition to allowing you to set the stage on fire solo, 4 players can play together in a local "rehearsal space" and up to 8 rockers can compete online via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in real musical battles. Even the Roadie modes have been revisited: 8 players can now compete at the same time by allowing 4 rockers on Wii to team up with a roadie each equipped with a Nintendo DS. And this time, bassists or drummers can team up with roadies like guitarists! You can challenge other rockers while your teammate undermines the opposing party's efforts. Your partner can take on the role of programming director by choosing your next song or you can work "in concert" with your roadie to score the highest possible scores. That's teamwork.
