Synopsis

The player takes control of Roderick Hero whose goal is to rescue victims trapped at the bottom of a mine made up of a maze of shafts. He is equipped with a backpack with propeller that allows him to glide, a laser rifle and a supply of explosives. The backpack has a limited amount of power, forcing the player to reach the miners before the power runs out. Some passages are blocked by collapses which require the use of explosives but their number is limited and you must move away at the time of the explosion. The mine is populated by spiders, bats and other creatures deadly to the touch. They can be destroyed with laser or dynamite. Lanterns light the mine but plunge parts into darkness if struck. Finally, certain flooded areas at the bottom of the mine are fatal. Points are scored for each creature and rockslide destroyed, for rescuing miners as well as for the amount of energy remaining in the backpack and the number of unused dynamites. Roderick recovers a life every 20,000 points.
