Synopsis

While its arcade predecessors were known for having long, loop-free courses and pitting the player against a time limit rather than other racers, Hang-On GP is more conventional, with the player racing on short courses and attempting to gain ground against a group of competitors.
Each race consists of five laps, with each lap divided into multiple segments with time limits and time extensions given at checkpoints. The player loses the race if the time runs out.
