Synopsis

Harlequin grew up in Chimera, a paradise for any curious child with its vast expanses of surprises. When he left it to find a more nurturing and mature world, it gradually dried up and its many living creatures became evil. Harlequin must return to neutralize them.

He does this by pulling love hearts from them, as any contact with one of them is fatal to these evil creatures.
The game is platform-based, with lots of vertical climbs to complete, and has plenty of bonuses and hidden sections.
