Also released on Megadrive, Hellfire is much more accessible on PC Engine. We find everything that makes the original arcade game: our two heroines set out to save the world, fine and varied settings, etc.
All the finesse of the gameplay comes from the fact that you can aim your weapon. No secondary fire therefore, the second button allows you to change the angle of fire: forwards, backwards, up and down, and diagonally. The level design requires you to play on this throughout each game. However, it's the bosses that will really force you to change weapons very regularly. You only have to see the boss of the first level to be convinced: as you walk around, you will have to shoot each of these weak points with a very specific weapon.
And this is also where Hellfire S is all-purpose: it is very technical and requires good aim. It is therefore not uncommon to have to learn certain passages to know exactly how to pass smoothly. The game is also very well known on Megadrive. The latter left a mark on many players due to its totally abused difficulty, making it one of the most difficult shoots of Sega's 16-bit game. With this PC Engine CD version, Hellfire, which is called Hellfire S, sees its challenge clearly revised downwards. In addition, this PC Engine version - CD required - is enhanced with a very pleasant introduction in still images and excellent quality music.
Once again, this is great Toaplan. This PC Engine version is clearly to be preferred over a technically excellent Megadrive cartridge, but far too difficult.
