Synopsis

This is a computerized version of the classic board game, Othello, played against a computer-controlled opponent. The game takes place on an 8×8 board, with players using the keyboard to move a cursor and select their moves. You may choose to make the first move or allow the computer to begin. As in the traditional board game, players alternate placing stones on the board, attempting to surround and capture their opponent's pieces. Captured stones are flipped to the capturing player's color, gradually shifting control of the board. When all squares are filled or no more moves remain, the game ends, and the player with the most stones is declared the winner. A unique feature of this Apple II version is its handicap system. Players can give or receive a handicap by assigning ownership of one to four corner squares before the game begins. Since corner positions are highly valuable in Othello, this option allows players of different skill levels to enjoy a more balanced & challenging match
