Synopsis

This CD-ROM2 version (the game also exists in HuCARD) is marked "Special", and we can therefore expect a few small bonuses here and there. And let's first take a look at the classic version, a little gem of a rustic shoot'em up, which has already made the oldest among you happy. The proposed version is simply an adaptation made of bonuses, we simply find ourselves with two games in one: the standard Side Arms, and an antediluvian version also called Side Arms B.C. (Before Christ!).
Once you have finished "Standard" mode, there is no point in removing the cutlery since you can move directly to "Before Christ". When there are more, there are more: Paic Citron and Side Arms Special, same fight. This "cheap edition" offers the same game, except that we removed the colorings but added a lot of preservatives. As a result, it got stupidly uglier, but also damn harder. In this story, we therefore find ourselves with a game graphically closer to a Master System than to a PC Engine, with fewer vertical scrolling phases, and the obligation to restart part of the level each time we lose a life. The weapons system has also been overhauled, with new guns (as unimpressive as the previous ones), a charge-beam gauge, and the inability to switch from one weapon to another at any time. Oh yes, and then the bosses were redone!
