Synopsis

Icewar: The Battle of the Lake is a 1–4 player shareware strategy war game for the Apple II. Players battle to control a frozen lake by expanding territory with ice rafts and defeating enemy forces. Empty player slots are filled by computer opponents. Players manage units including ice machines, artillery, miners, army troops, and raiders, using ice as currency to expand territory and build new units on controlled ice.
Ice machines rapidly expand territory but cannot move. Artillery destroys enemies at long range, while miners harvest ice each turn. Army and raider units engage enemy forces directly. Combat between army units shifts to a separate tactical screen where players use expanding ice rafts to trap and destroy opponents.
At the start of each round, players can spend ice to gain turn priority. End-of-round summaries display each player's losses for that turn.
