Synopsis

Invade-a-Load allowed players to enjoy a small Space Invaders-style mini-game while the main game loaded on Commodore 64. This mini-game was available in less than a minute, providing valuable entertainment during the long loading times of the main game. In at least one case, a reviewer even preferred Invade-a-Load over the main game. This technique was particularly popular in the United Kingdom, as the American market had by then largely switched to floppy disks.
