Synopsis

Juno First is a vertical-scrolling shoot-em-up seen from a third-person perspective in which players must destroy waves of attacking aliens. Unlike other shooters of the time, the game's enemies do not line up in a gallery but move freely across the screen. Because of this, the player's ship can move forward and backward (in addition to left and right).

In addition to the attacking aliens, a spherical 'space capsule' sometimes appears on screen and, if fired, releases an enemy astronaut who can then be captured. However, this must be done within a set time frame, with the screen having a red tint for the period in which rescue is possible. During the capture phase, each enemy the player shoots is worth an additional 200 points.
