Synopsis

The princess has been kidnapped again, this time by a pair of menacing figures. Locked in a tower, she manages to write a plea for help on a piece of paper, then sends a paper plane out of her prison. Miraculously, he reaches her boyfriend Yanchamaru who, being the straight samurai that he is, immediately sets about saving her.

Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 3 is the final sequel to Kid Niki and represents a significant departure from the first two games. Not only does the game feature full four-way scrolling and large maps to explore, but Yanchamaru himself sports a whole new look and many new abilities. His spinning sword now appears to be more like a bo, and Yanchamaru can now use it to fire waves of energy at enemies, bounce off the end, spin in place, and even throw out of walls and corners. Taking inspiration from Mega Man, he now has the ability to slide through tight spaces and under dangerous spikes.

Each floor contains many keys and locked doors. Any key will open any door, and it is possible to complete a stage without even finding all the keys and doors. The last door in each stage leads to the boss's room. After completing each stage, your performance is counted, and depending on what you did, bonuses such as points or lives are given.
