Synopsis

Kempelen takes inspiration from the famous legend of the Mechanical Turk and transforms this historical illusion into a real game of chess. Far from being a simple trickery, the game places emphasis on the game of chess itself, while exploiting the fascination of an idea once admired as a technical feat. Its appeal lies in particular in this link with the myth of the machine, because it revives the old dream of a thinking machine and, this time, makes it truly playable.
