KMA-300G-25
Description
Motherboard:
KMA-300G-25 (c) 199? Arche Technologies, Inc.
The KMA-300G-25 is a 25 MHz 80386DX motherboard. It is a hallmark of the transition period where Arche began moving away from standard AT designs to more integrated, higher-performance layouts. The board is powered by the Chips & Technologies (C&T) 82C301/82C302 chipset, which was designed to provide faster memory access and better performance than the generic chipsets found in lower-tier clones. It supports 80386DX-25 processors in a PGA socket, includes a dedicated socket for an 80387 math coprocessor, and utilizes eight 16-bit ISA slots. Memory is handled via 30-pin SIMMs, supporting up to 16 MB or 32 MB of FPM DRAM, and the board features a dedicated SRAM cache bank (typically 64 KB or 128 KB) to alleviate the performance bottlenecks of early 386 systems.
- TRIVIA -
Arche's "Professional" Branding: Arche Tech sold their systems under the slogan "Quality Above All," and the kma300g board reflects this. The PCB is significantly thicker than the standard PC-Chips or Morse boards, with high-quality components and an attention to signal integrity that allowed these systems to run reliably in 24/7 business environments.
The "Rivival" Factor: Because Arche produced complete, high-quality systems, these boards are rarely found as loose components on the used market. Surviving kma300g units are highly prized by collectors of "boutique" 80s/90s PC brands, as they are essentially the "Compaq" or "IBM" level equivalents for the local integration market.
