KSP10 Digital Piano (c) 199? Kawai

The Kawai KSP10 Digital Piano was a stage-oriented digital piano designed for both live performance and studio use. Developed by Kawai, it used high-quality PCM sampling to reproduce acoustic piano sounds, combined with weighted keys and velocity-sensitive action for expressive playability. The KSP10 was intended as a compact, reliable alternative to acoustic pianos, offering consistent tuning, portability, and integrated digital effects.

- TRIVIA -

The KSP10 was part of Kawai’s push into professional digital piano and stage keyboard markets in the 1990s.

It used PCM-based stereo piano samples, reflecting the industry standard for digital pianos at the time.

The instrument featured weighted keys designed to simulate the feel of an acoustic piano action.

It included built-in effects such as reverb to enhance realism and stage presence.

Kawai leveraged its long-standing acoustic piano manufacturing expertise to improve realism in its digital piano line.

It was used in live performance settings where portability and tuning stability were important.

Compared to later digital pianos, it had relatively limited sound sets but strong focus on core piano realism.

Today it is considered part of the transitional generation between early digital pianos and more advanced sampled/modeled instruments of the late 1990s and 2000s.
