Synopsis

Legion on PC Engine CD from NEC could well be to shooting what the devil is to the good Lord. Let's not be satanic, just intolerant towards a game that makes you wonder how it could have been published.
The atmosphere is quite special. The idea of ​​putting a voice-over at the start of each level was quite interesting (and constituted the only argument for releasing the game on CD), but in the end it adds a layer to an already undrinkable game. The voice is in English, but with a totally overused platitude. This was certainly intended, just to make it Alien style.
However, we don't spend much time trying to understand what the narrator is gibbering: enemies are coming in every direction, and at astonishing speed! This horizontal shoot'em up achieves the feat of doing worse than Raiden in terms of speed, just that! Except of course, it's unplayable. Quite a few passages are impossible to pass without losing life, and everything is far too fast to be memorized by heart. Of course, when you get hit, you start naked again... We're more about reflex shooting here. However, nothing to do with a manic shooter, we would be more in the presence of an R-Type in accelerated version.
So you imagine that the difficulty is incredibly high. The number of lives and continues is high and we have an instant respawn, but nothing helps: it's too hard. We will therefore have two choices: scream and explode everything that comes within reach, or laugh, like when you watch a bad guy on television. Because yes, to summarize, Legion is a fun game, the kind you play with friends, a beer in hand, just to have a laugh because it's so messed up.
Graphically it's very average, we have a huge feeling of déjà vu. The music is much worse. They don't use CD support and are as bland as the game itself.
Legion is certainly one of the worst PC Engine shooters.
