Synopsis

Knights of the Zodiac: The Golden Legend is a video game based on the universe of the Saint Seiya manga and following the first two arcs of the anime: "The Sanctuary, part one" and "The Sanctuary, the 12 houses, part two", that is to say the first 73 episodes. It is in fact an adaptation in French (game menu and character dialogues) of the title Saint Seiya: ?gon Densetsu published in Japan on Famicom in 1987. Extremely rare, outside of Japan, the title was therefore only marketed in France.
The game offers a “story” mode and a “versus” mode in the Japanese version. The story mode traces the history of the Sanctuary part of the television series. The game consists of horizontal scrolling exploration phases, where the fights take place in a beat them all style, and the fights against the other knights are turn-based. These fights use a cosmos system that must be allocated to your attack and defense each turn, to inflict more damage or reduce the damage received, the cosmos being in limited quantity.
The versus mode allows you to play as Seiya in a series of turn-based battles, against increasingly powerful opponents.
At the end of the game, you are given this password which allows you to start again while being almost invincible:
