Lode Runner
Synopsis
Originally, video games were a simple source of amusement, then, with time and their evolution, their creators gave them the ability to draw the player into an imaginary world. In most cases, therefore, we play it to relax or escape. Certain games, however, have an indefinable intellectual aura which makes them popular with fans of cerebral entertainment, the same people who prefer to play chess or Reversi than action or adventure games, not fond of audiovisual sensations but always ready to travel as soon as a clever, innovative concept presents itself, carrying infinite playful possibilities on an apparently simple basis.
Lode Runner is one of this genre. With simplistic graphics, little or no sound, a principle understandable in an instant, this game is so rich in situations, traps and tactics of all kinds that one would believe when playing it that it comes from some scientific research. However, unlike certain "experimental" titles among which Tetris is the undisputed star, Lode Runner provides the real sensations of an action game in addition to surprising us and making us discover its richness over the course of its 150 or so levels. It is therefore logical that this classic which appeared in 1983 has inspired a number of clones, all more beautiful and fun than the original, but none of which have equaled the impact.
