Synopsis

Lode Runner is a platform game in which the player controls a character who moves through levels made up of different types of structures (ladders, walls, walkways) in order to collect ingots while escaping the guards who pursue him. The player plays a member of a space commando tasked with recovering his people's gold stolen by the Bungeling Empire, a recurring enemy in games published by Broderbund Software. To do this, he must explore the one hundred and fifty levels of the enemy's underground treasury in which gold ingots are scattered. The hero is armed with a laser gun which allows him to drill through brick walls and thus create holes which close after a certain time. This technique can be used to unblock a passage to an inaccessible ingot or to trap guards, who are destroyed when the hole closes if they fail to escape in time. In this case, a guard immediately appears at the top of the screen. Some bricks are too strong and cannot dig a hole. The hero must also avoid falling into the holes he digs because, unlike the guards, he cannot escape. He must also avoid the guards who roam the levels, under penalty of being killed, but can walk freely on the guards trapped in a hole. After collecting all the ingots scattered in a level, a new ladder appears and allows you to access the next level. The game consists of 150 levels. It also incorporates a level editor that allows the player to modify the game's levels or create new ones
