As a strategic theater commander, you assign task forces, set movement orders, and define combat doctrines like engagement range and tactical behavior. Time advances in 20-minute increments, with the game pausing for key decisions. It's a text-only simulation supported by a physical map and markers to track positions. With scenarios like Savo Island and Guadalcanal, Long Lance offers deep, slow-burning naval warfare strategy where planning and foresight matter more than speed.
