Synopsis

Lords of the Rising Sun is a strategy game with a map-based interface. The player must coordinate the deployment of his armies, secure their resources and manage their skills in order to combat opposing armies and conquer new territories. The game includes a diplomatic dimension allowing you to negotiate alliances with other clans and allows you to take part directly in combat through five action sequences.

The two playable characters, Yoritomo and Yoshitsune, have different skills: the first is a better negotiator while the second has more seasoned armies. With Yoshitsune, action sequences become optional. Each game can have a very dissimilar path given the possibilities of evolution in the Minamoto clan, interactions with independent clans and the adaptive game difficulty (the stronger the player, the more the difficulty increases). At the end of the game, the player receives one of twenty-five possible evaluations. It depends on the skills acquired, the number of generals commanded, territories held and sacred treasures collected.
