Synopsis

Maniac Mansion is an adventure game developed and published by Lucasfilm Games published in 1988 on DOS. It follows the adventures of young Dave Miller as he attempts to save his girlfriend who is kidnapped by a mad scientist, Doctor Fred Edison, whose family is under the control of a meteorite that crashed behind their home twenty years previously. The player controls his characters through a point-and-click interface and must solve puzzles to advance in the game.
For the scenario, they are inspired by the clichés of horror and B films to which they incorporate humorous elements. The characters are based on people they know as well as characters from films, comics or horror magazines. The appearance of the Edison house is inspired by the main building of Skywalker Ranch where the Lucasfilm Games studio was based at the time.
