Synopsis

Long before Street Fighter first of the name, Yie Ar! Kung-Fu was one of the precursors of beat 'em up as we know it today. Martial Champion was originally supposed to be called Yie Ar! Kung-Fu 3. No doubt, faced with the mediocrity of the result, Konami decided to rename it so as not to tarnish the name. Coming from the smoke-filled rooms, the game was ported to Super CD-ROM². Martial Champion doesn't really bother with a storyline. The ten fighters in the game participate in a major international martial arts tournament, with the sole aim of dethroning the current champion, a certain Salamander. The latter is a force of nature, and it will be complicated to overcome it. Or not…
