Synopsis

Both players must use a steering wheel, a gas pedal, and a four-position shifter, to take control of a blue (1P) or a red (2P) car (but if only one player is present, the red car will be controlled by the CPU). If the other player's car is in a player's field of vision, it will appear on the other side of the screen as well as theirs; a rearview mirror is also present at the top of both sides of the screen, so that one player can see the other coming behind them. If a player fails to complete a race within the qualifying time, their game will be immediately terminated – and the concept of the split-screen cabinet was later reused by Bally Midway the following year, when Spy Hunter II was released.
