Synopsis

Tohno Shiki hears of a new series of murders in Misaki similar to those that took place in Tsukihime. While searching for the murderer, he encounters Sion Eltnam Atlasia who begins a fight with him in an attempt to capture him. After the fight, she reveals that the reason she tried to capture him is to make contact with the "true ancestor" (referring to Arcueid) so that she can acquire information about the "cure for vampirism". Shiki then decides to help him in this task.

A sequel to the visual novels Tsukihime and Kagetsu Tohya, Melty Blood is a combination of visual novel and fighting game. The story unfolds through a series of battles. Depending on the outcome of each fight, the story will be divided into two ways. Ultimately, this is how the game ends.

The first two PC versions featured adventure-style stories with branches and multiple endings as well as an arcade mode side story. Later versions only have arcade mode, but they have many more characters.
