Synopsis
In 1995, a group of mercenaries caused a crisis in South Africa by erecting a stronghold, the “Outer Heaven” fortress. According to intelligence, Outer Heaven is home to the development of a new weapon that could threaten the balance of nuclear deterrence forces. The Fox Hound special forces unit is tasked with intervening to find information on this weapon. His best agent, Gray Fox, is sent on an infiltration mission to Outer Heaven but all contact is broken after a final message: "Metal Gear...". Fox Hound calls on a new recruit, Solid Snake, to investigate the disappearance of Gray Fox and the mysterious weapon.
