Synopsis

Meteos Wars is a falling block puzzle game based on the Nintendo DS game Meteos. Although the basic gameplay is the same, controlling with a gamepad instead of touchscreen and stylus makes it a different game. The game consists of a board on which colorful meteors plunge towards the atmosphere of a planet. There they form columns that the user can manipulate. The player moves a red cursor using two buttons to drag meteorites up or down. When three or more meteors are aligned horizontally or vertically, they turn into flaming stone and are launched into space (at the top of the screen), propelled by rockets. There, they catch all the meteors that arrive and often chain combos. Ignitions based on vertical matches are more powerful. As a group catches meteors, it becomes heavier and gravity pulls it downward. The player can avoid this by causing secondary ignitions, either directly in the group or from below. If the meteors can be lifted past the top of the screen, they fall onto the opponent's board. The game is over when a player's board is completely filled.

An additional button allows you to speed up time and create time bombs that will be sent to the opponent's board to cause an explosion. Meteors can also turn to ash and fall again. When the gauge is full at the bottom of the screen, a planetary impact can be caused. There are four types (Armageddon, Gambit, Sentinel and Storm), each with different effects. Respectively, they reduce attack power, send more meteors while receiving fewer, launch a meteor missile, and fire lasers to eliminate falling meteors, which is an additional means of defense.

The single player mode includes three game modes: a fight against the computer, a mission mode and an attack mode. In mission mode, you have to defeat different planets before reaching Meteo. It is possible to unlock new planets and accessories along the way. Multiplayer against a human player is available both offline and online.
