Mission Impossible + Programmed Trip
Synopsis
Two titles are available in this cartridge:
Mission Impossible is an action game. The player must protect a freighter (a white craft) that is moving in a hunting line from bounty hunters (red boats), which will destroy the freighter if it crosses its path. As the freighter moves along the lay lines, the player must place NGR bots (green X symbols) at line intersections to change traffic; the player has 7 NGR robots and can replace them. When a ship reaches an NGR bot, it turns right if traveling vertically or turns to the bottom of the screen when traveling horizontally. Red mushroom-shaped power-ups, when picked up, allow the freighter to destroy bounty hunters; Alternatively, bounty hunters can simply be directed towards them and will be destroyed. The white X marks will send the freighter in the opposite direction it was traveling; if they are hit by a bounty hunter, they will also send them back, but they will be destroyed. The lilac squares are mines that will destroy any ship that passes them. Finally, blue dots will give bounty hunters an extra life if taken by them. The player and bounty hunters start with 15 lives each, the first to drop to zero loses.
Programmed Trip is a turn-based game that shares many elements of the previous game. As the name suggests, the player must program the path of the cargo field so that it passes over the pickup points (colored + symbols) in a specific order: first lilac, then red, then blue. To do this, NGR robots can be placed to redirect the ship, and some fields can also have white X marks already placed. Once all desired NGR robots are placed, the player can free the freighter by placing the cursor on the upper left corner and pressing the action button. When the freighter is freed, the player has 30 points. Passing pickup points in the correct order adds 20 points to the score, while passing them in the wrong order or hitting another item (NGR or white X robots, for example) subtracts 10 points from the score. The game is over when the score reaches 0 or when all pickup points have been reached in the correct order (in which case they will turn white).
