Synopsis

Motor Mania is a top-down driving game where the screen scrolls vertically upwards as you try to drive your race car for as many kilometers as possible. Starting at a gas station, you can control your speed up to 80 mph, brake, and move left or right while avoiding other drivers and various obstacles. There are three types of roads to drive on: highways, secondary roads, and dirt roads. You must avoid hitting the sides and other drivers, otherwise you lose one of five lives. On the side of the play area are various dials: the speedometer, fuel which decreases as you drive, and the generator which indicates your battery power and decreases if you don't drive at full speed. You can also see your mileage, your lives, and whether you have your spare tire.

The obstacles you encounter affect different aspects of your car: potholes make your steering erratic, road plates slow you down, avalanches mean hitting a rock costs you a life, and you will also encounter intersections with vehicles moving across the screen that must be avoided. A broken window means you will stop and your tire will need changing with the single spare tire, and logs will damage your radiator causing your car to overheat. Gas stations appear from time to time and here you can refuel, repair your radiator, and increase your battery power.
