Synopsis

Mudpies is best described as a single-screen arcade shooter, played for high scores. Similar in style to Robotron, the player takes control of Arnold, a young boy who disrupted a circus by throwing pies at clowns. The clowns are not happy, however, and they soon begin to revolt. Controlling Arnold, the player must navigate the playing area avoiding angry clowns and hitting them with pies to earn points. The clowns attack by throwing juggling pins and if hit by a clown or pin he will be sent to first aid and lose a life. Three trips to the first aid and it's game over (additional visits awarded for each 10,000 points scored). Arnold also has a food meter to monitor that needs to be replenished to keep him moving. Having burgers, fries and milkshakes are just what he needs, but overeating is just as bad as undereating and if the meter gets too low or too high he will slow down to half his speed. There are six main rooms in the game which are discovered when doors open, some rooms are random challenge rooms and do not have pies to collect for ammo. If you can get out without getting caught, you receive big bonus points. Additionally, every 20,000 points you will be in a special room where the clowns are stationary and do not attack, but are still deadly if hit. The game supports two players with alternating play between each life lost.
