Description

This variant of the NAOMI BIOS is intended for terminals using a GD-ROM reader, a high-density optical disk format developed by Sega and Yamaha, rather than traditional ROM cartridges. It manages the initialization of the player, the reading of data from the disc and the copy protection mechanisms specific to this media. NAOMI, derived from the Dreamcast architecture, was Sega's main arcade platform from 1998 to the mid-2000s. The use of GD-ROM made it possible to reduce production costs for large games such as episodes of Virtua Fighter or The House of the Dead.
