Need For Speed: Porsche 2000
Synopsis
Need For Speed: Porsche 2000 is part of the Need for Speed series called Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed in North America, Need For Speed: Porsche 2000 in Europe except in Germany where it is known as Need for Speed: Porsche as in Latin America.
These are car races where the vehicles are exclusively Porsches, there are exactly 74 different models covering the period from 1948 to 2000.
Road circuits have third-party vehicle traffic management, as well as a police presence (however remaining symbolic).
The game offers many modes. History mode takes you through the races through the history of the brand, from the origins to the year 2000; Career mode puts you in the shoes of a test driver from the Stuttgart firm, who must access the role of chief tester as well as the classic modes of the series.
The main attraction of this part is the accessible simulation side of the gameplay. The latter is enhanced, in Historic mode, with a second-hand market where it is possible to find your future car but not necessarily in the best condition. A new market also exists. The game requires the player to manage a budget, between race winnings, capital gains made from the resale of vehicles, and the repair of your fleet, or even its improvements (engine and bodywork). In this mode, the game is similar to Gran Turismo.
The circuits, although imaginary, are however very stylized in order to be able to recognize various places such as typically German highways, Corsica, the Alps or even Auvergne. This very particular character instead of impersonal fictional places also partly contributed to the success of the game.
