Synopsis

Gradius, (sometimes called Nemesis in the West) is a shoot 'em up video game developed and published by Konami in 1985 on an arcade machine.

This is the first episode of the Gradius series, one of the most prolific series of its kind.

Gradius is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up. At the controls of the Vic-Viper ship, the player must go through seven varied game levels, punished by a boss.

The concept of evolving weaponry, which has already appeared in fragments in a few other games, notably 1942, is taken up and developed in Gradius. It is therefore a question of collecting the famous power-up capsules left by destroyed enemies, in order to upgrade the capabilities of the ship.
