Synopsis

After a sung opening credits, the story begins when the cat Neko-kun, busy contemplating the starry sky on the roof of his house, witnesses the fall of one of these stars. Injured after falling from the sky, Hoshi-kun will fortunately be taken in by Neko-kun who, in addition to offering him shelter, will also give him something to heal. This is how the friendship between these two friendly characters begins, a friendship that is now eternal, despite the inevitable separation that takes place when the star, once restored, is forced to leave the green meadows to return to the heavens. So that’s the prologue to Nemurenuyo No Chîsana Ohanashi; a prologue which, in my opinion, still frames the subject quite well, especially for those who didn't know at all what to expect.
Like collections of children's stories, where each chapter is independent from the previous one and tells a whole new story. It is therefore possible at any time to choose one of the seven chapters offered, corresponding to as many funny little adventures, and in which you can, for example, discover Neko-kun's aquatic journey, or the unfolding of his birthday... Obviously, we will meet new characters along the way, each one nicer than the other, like the bear Kuma-kun or Usagi-kun the dreaming rabbit. The fact remains that there is no real progression strictly speaking: it is entirely possible to redo a chapter that you have already finished and enjoyed, in the same way that you can reread your favorite La Fontaine fables... Likewise, it is possible to leave the game at any time, and thus benefit from the end credits, which are always just as adorable.
If Nemurenuyo No Chîsana Ohanashi had only been a book to read through the screen, it would have had no other interest than to pay for a new villa for Alain Afflelou. Fortunately, since it is still a video game, the programmers said to themselves that it could be a good idea to incorporate interactive elements, just for that matter. So, in the same way as what we could see at the time on Pico, this CD-ROM allows you to move your cursor (the NEC mouse is compatible, by the way) over anything and everything on the screen, and thus interact with the elements of the decor. Clicking on a tree will make apples fall, turning the radio button will allow you to listen to the music of the game, etc etc... Fundamentally educational, Nemurenuyo No Chîsana Ohanashi is one of those incredibly clever educational tools, allowing young people to develop their senses, and thus their perception of the world around them. Likewise, friendship, honesty, imagination... are all themes and values ​​addressed in the short stories.
