Night Gunner
Synopsis
Night Gunner is set during World War II and loosely simulates the Lancaster plane, but despite this, and despite being from Digital Integration, the game is more of a shoot'em up than a flight simulator.
The game is mainly divided into shooting and bombing phases, the former being viewed from the cockpit and allowing the player to shoot balloons, planes (which are hostile) and large bombers. Damage can affect the engines, which affects the player's performance - when 3 engines are destroyed, the plane crashes. Damage to the artillery turret slows down firing and ultimately deprives the player of the ability to aim.
Bombardment sections include high and low altitude attacks, each with limited munitions. High altitude missions often involve intercepting fire before it reaches you, while low altitude missions carry a constant risk of hitting the ground or being hit by enemy fire.
