Synopsis

Night Striker is a 3D shot-em-up rendered with sprite-scale graphics. Players must guide an armored stationary car through a number of levels of scrolling - destroying waves of enemies in the process - in order to rescue a scientist who has been kidnapped by a terrorist organization. A great keeper waits for the players at the end of each level, each taking several shots to destroy.

Night Striker draws its influences from many iconic games of the scaling sprite genre, all of which are versions of Sega. The basic shoot-em-up gameplay is similar in both the 1985 Space Harrier and 1987 Thunder Blade styles. Some levels of the game resemble those of 1988’s Galaxy Force II and Thunder Blade, while the game’s level structure is a pyramid. levels that allows players to choose their own route through the game using the end - level bifurcated routes - is borrowed from the classic 1986, "Out Run".
