Synopsis

Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom is a platform/action video game, third episode of the Ninja Gaiden trilogy on NES but which was never published in Europe.
The story takes place between the events of Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden II. The player controls Ryu Hayabusa, falsely accused of the murder of Irene Lew, a CIA agent whom he saves in the first Ninja Gaiden, and sets out to investigate the identity and motivations of those who set up this scheme against him. From twists and turns to revelations, the storyline also integrates science fiction elements previously unpublished in the series, such as hyperspace travel, genetic transformation, and the presence of a spaceship.
The gameplay is similar to that of previous games in the series, while enhancing the abilities of Ryu Hayabusa, who can now hang from underneath pipes and ramps, can extend his sword thanks to upgrades and shoot vertically when the need arises.
