Synopsis

In the 16th century, Japan's Sengoku ("Warring States") period divided the nation into numerous feudal states, each ruled by a daimyo. These daimyos often went to war with each other. Many of them dreamed of conquering the country, becoming Shogun and ruling the entire country. One of these daimyos was the ambitious Nobunaga Oda, a ruthless ruler and renowned strategist. Players take on the role of Nobunaga Oda or one of many other daimyos in an attempt to conquer Japan.

Nobunaga's Ambition is a turn-based strategy game that can be played in different modes. The gameplay is similar to Koei's better-known Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Players start by choosing between a 17 region scenario and a 50 region scenario. He must then choose a daimyo, whose attributes are evaluated in several categories: age, health, ambition, luck, charm and intelligence quotient. As the game progresses, these values ​​change depending on in-game events. The age value represents something of a time limit, as an elderly daimyo is increasingly at risk of dying from old age or illness.
