Synopsis

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games: Arcade Edition is a game based on the 2016 Olympic Games, with a Mario and Sonic twist. This is similar to the console versions of the game, but different in many ways. The game is controlled with your feet to run in sports like the 100m dash and swim in the 100m freestyle. Spinning sticks are used for throwing the hammer throw and the javelin throw. It can also be used for tricks on the trampoline. Some games require jumping on the machine, but mainly for long jump and hurdles. Buttons are found on the joysticks for shooting in precision sports like archery and rhythmic gymnastics. You can play with all the characters from the console version, but there are no guest characters. You can only play one event at a time, or you must invest more credits. There are also no dream events and the console game's three main sports are absent due to their complex control: football, volleyball and rugby.
